A Night Like This

Bright stars shining in the sky tonight There doesn't seem to be a cloud in sight There's a big moon smiling on your car going down the road All the trees are swaying to the sound of the radio A little country, a little rock n roll The kids are sitting in the backseat smiling as they hear you sing And on a night like this you can do anything Yeah on a night like this you can do anything You haven't seen your mom in it's been too long Your daddy's getting older but he's still having fun There's a big apple pie on the table in the dining room There'll be deep discussions of trivial stuff The wisdom in this house is more than enough The kids are dancing in the front room, laughing as they hear you sing And on a night like this you can do anything Yeah on a night like this you can do anything Now the food is ready and it smells so good You know you'll probably eat more than you should The people you love gather round the table in the dining room As you join hands to give thanks it feels so right But this is nothing special, it's just another night The kids are sitting at the table smiling as they hear you pray And on a night like this you can do anything Yeah on a night like this you can do anything And with a life like this you can do anything

Texas In My Bones ©Stephen W. Young It was a rainy night in Georgia When I packed my bags to leave Nothin' against Atlanta It just didn't work for me But the seasons change, and lead us To the place we're meant to be So i headed for my home I know some folks in Louisiana Who just love to take me in So I stopped and drank strong coffee And reminisced with my old friends And we laughed and shared old memories Until the break of dawn And it was time for moving on 'Cause I've got Texas in my bones I've seen the Eastern Shore of Virginia And the San Fransisco Bay The mountains of Colorado Are everything they say And I thank God I was born and raised In the good old USA But I've got Texas in my bones I love the red dirt and the pine trees And the quiet, simple life The beaches of South Padre 'Cause that's where I met my wife The road to San Jacinto Where I learned to drive my car My roots run deep In the heart of the state they call Lone Star Now I hang my hat In the hills, just North of San Antone 'Cause I've got Texas in my bones I've got Texas in my bones I've got Texas in my bones

Love That Never Dies ©Stephen W. Young There's a picture on my wall And it means the world to me 'Cause that picture says it all It's not just faded memories You taught me how to tie my shoes And brush my teeth, and comb my hair And always stand up for the truth And not forget to say my prayers I haven't taken you for granted I always wanted you to know Just how deep your words were planted 'Cause they are deep within my soul So let the evening breeze come gently And sing your lullabies 'Cause I have so many memories Of a love that never dies You taught me how to treat my wife How to work and be a man The important things of life You taught me who I am You said to put things where I found them 'Cause I may need them again And so I keep you where I found you You're in my heart until the end So let the evening breeze come gently And sing your lullabies 'Cause I have so many memories Of a love that never dies

Leave Your Blues At Home ©Stephen W. Young You've had your share of trouble And you don't know what to do You see pieces of the puzzle But you're looking for a clue You say you're sad and lonely You say you're feeling blue You say you need some company I can say I've been there too If you need to get away To rest your weary bones You can come on down to my house But you can leave your blues at home I don't want to minimize The things you're going through But you're living in the shadows You need a different point of view It's time to make some changes I know it's hard to do You can rise above the ashes You can see your dreams come true You can take your stand for freedom And you'll never be alone You can come on down to my house But you can leave your blues at home Please hear what I am saying I mean no disrespect I hate to see you struggle But your song's not over yet Start dancing to this happy beat I'm sure you won't regret Can't wait to see you smile again I hope you won't forget I'm always right here for you Not throwing any stones You can come on down to my house And you can leave your blues at home

The Other Side Of Nowhere (Ode To Writer’s Block) ©2020, Stephen W. Young I started off without a purpose
And I wandered off from there And I'm just beneath the surface Of a life without a care
And sometimes I think I'm special And at times it's just not fair Cause after all the dust has settled I'm just stuck here on the other side of nowhere
In the morning I drink coffee Helps me open up my eyes And I dream that I'm somebody But it's only my disguise
And the afternoons are heavy With the songs I've yet to share And every time I think I'm ready I'm just stuck here on the other side of nowhere
And at night I see the lights off in the distance As they glow with dreams that seem so far away And I am tempted by the path of least resistance But the other side of nowhere, is where I am today And the afternoons are heavy With the songs I've yet to share And every time I think I'm ready I'm just stuck here on the other side of nowhere

You were just a child when you first heard me I was singing in your car A melody that moved your feet And settled in your heart You joined a band so you could know me You learned to play an old guitar But that piano set you free And you played with all your heart After the sunset Will you still remember me Will I be forgotten Or a distant memory Will you sing along with my old songs And dream about your friends After the sunset Sometimes I sing about the future At times I sing about the past I sing of winners and losers And questions never asked After the sunset Will you still remember me Will I be forgotten Or a distant memory Will you sing along with my old songs And dream about your friends After the sunset I am more than just a melody More than empty words I'm the fragrance you remember When you try to forget the hurt After the sunset Will you still remember me Will I be forgotten Or a distant memory Will you sing along with my old songs And dream about your friends After the sunset

I Love You (I Do) ©Stephen W. Young Do you ever wonder what makes it right A perfect moon in a perfect night A cool breeze. A warm heart The sky, a canvas of heavenly art Two lovers walking hand in hand Making memories, and making plans A heart of love is a heart of gold True riches make a happy soul And I love you I love you I do The way you laugh at nothing at all Or shed a tear when somebody falls The way you smile, the way you sing The way you do about everything And I love you I love you I do They say that love will conquer anything I say it already has And I can't wait to see what the future brings When I consider the past So if you'll give me a minute or two I'm gonna sit here and think about you 'Cause I love you I love you I do

Moving In The Right Direction ©Stephen W. Young Long ago and far away Just seems like yesterday A child dreams of a fairy tale existence But real life can come on strong You have to choose from right and wrong But don't choose the path of least resistence Inch by inch, a day at a time And you're one step closer to the finish line Never let the hard times get you down You gotta keep the right perspective Don't worry about the imperfections You just keep on moving Moving in the right direction Some people want to make you fail They won't stop. They never will But stay out of their web of deception Seems like a simple thing Just open your eyes and dream And keep looking in the right direction Inch by inch, a day at a time And you're one step closer to the finish line Never let the hard times get you down You gotta keep the right perspective Don't worry about the imperfections You just keep on moving Moving in the right direction

I Never Knew 03:43
I Never Knew Verse 1: I read the letters Save the cards Memories of my time with you You made me better  From the start I might as well admit the truth
Chorus: I never knew Just how much I needed someone by my side Until I saw you there that night I could blame it on the moonlight Or the magic of your smile I never knew Until I met you
Verse 2: Time is fleeting Sometimes slow Some things change, some stay the same I search for meaning And this, I know Your love is like a gentle rain
Bridge: And from the early days of innocence Through the times we have matured One thing has always stayed the same
